Happy 21 months baby boy!!!

This month we’re still struggling with weight gain. It frustrates me when N has difficult meal times. The doctor asked us to increase his portion to  half of adult, which I thought would be ok as he was eating so well anyway. However the day after we went to his ped, N had fever. Probably he caught bugs from the hospital. So for few days his appetite decreased, then we went to Jakarta for 2 weeks. More interruption to his habit. He only ate well enough probably in the last week. Adding up to minimal weight gain. Major sigh.

And also, he still only has 8 teeth. I can feel the others are cutting through but none comes out yet. I know there’s nothing we can do about teeth but please grow!! Please help N to chew his favourite chicken thighs.

On a much brighter note, he’s learning extremely fast this month. He loves singing ABC, especially phonics. And he loves to sing it for each word he’s saying. For example “ma..ma..mami!” “C..c..car” “c..c..cat mioo” hahaha. He’s mixing phonics with pronunciation into his sentences. His words so far (click to enlarge);

He’s also into shapes. He can distinguish between circle (roundround) and oval (egggg). All things cresent would be moon, and anything with more than 4 sides would be agon agon (pentagon, hexagon, etc.) A plus or cross is a cross or sometimes he’d say “esus” (Jesus). There’s one time at the mall when I gave him a European tour booklet. He kept saying “Esus, Esus” while poiting at pictures of church’s cross. Lol how religious.

He mostly learnt shapes and ABCs/phonics through youtube videos. Very hand when I need to cook. What I dislike though, he can now say “nonton nonton”. “Mami, ABC. Lagu” and start dancing to make it clear. Blah.. so I made him foam shapes and few other tools to satisfy his current interest in ABC and shapes. More on this will be on ‘Nathan’s activities part 3′ post.

What entertained us most this month is his love for singing. And he loves asking me to sing, “Mami, nyanyi.” Upon being asked which song, he’ll choose whether it’s “stars” (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) or “Esus semua” (Yesus sayang semua) or whichever song he has in mind. Thank you for being so fun!! I love you son!
