Nathan turns 2
Gak terasa, Nathan hari ini berulang tahun ke-2. Sounds cliche but time went by too fast. I still remember 2 years ago when my water broke at midnight and we had a baby in our arms. So small, so fragile, so precious. Today I have a very active and talkative toddler. But to me he’s still a baby… he will forever be.
It has been a great year, seeing Nathan’s amazing growth. It’s true that the first 1000 days are the most precious because kids grow exponentially. Last year he just started to walk and now he actually runs faster than me. Last year he was still blabbering and today we can have simple conversation. He jumps, sings, dances and tells us anything that pops on his mind. He voices his preferences and his personality shines brighter. On most days he cleans up after his toys and eats well by himself. He has grown from a baby to a little boy.
Loves
Singing! “ABC Song” “ABC Song Robot” “ABC SONG” “ABC ROBOT!” all day, all night
Dancing to whatever tunes
Rubbing floors / walls to feel the texture (in true Montessori style)
Lying on the floor. This one drives me mad because he does it everywhere.
Baby in belly. “Baby swimming..” “Mami perut gendut” “Baby.. muahhh *kissing my tummy*”
Climbing
Fruit and vegetables
Dislike
Automated ride such as carousel / moving trucks. He prefers physical activities.
Durian hopefully this will change!
Wearing shoes when sitting down for a long time. He’ll try to take his shoes off during dining. Why ah?
Loud noise He turns to a koala whenever he hears loud noises (e.g. churches with loud sound system)
New this month
Saying 3-4 words sentence his first unprompted 3 words sentence was, “Mbak masak apa?” during our dinner at a Korean BBQ restaurant
Swimming at the sea and he loved it
Last flight as an infant to Belitung
Lots of new songs
As for me, I learnt 2 things in the last month. I learnt about ‘being intentional’ (more on this later) and was reminded that everything will happen at its own time. We had difficulties on weaning Nathan… but in the last month, Nathan weaned himself. It was a tear-free experience and happened on its own. After 23 months+ of breastfeeding, he decided that he had enough. Nathan has also learnt to sleep and wake up on his own, no tears involved. We’re so grateful for the cry-less experience. Each kid on their own pace, and their own way.
Happy birthday dear Kakak Nathan. May you grow healthy and everything else that we pray upon your life. We loveeeee you.
