Almost the end of first trimester

Week 11 ended with a blood test. I definitely looked too happy having this bloody expensive blood test! The test was expensive because they tested for HIV, Rubella, Toxoplasma and some others that I can’t even remember. Anyway, all good and the doctor was happy with it.

Talking about doctor, we went to see a new doctor in a new hospital. Let’s just say that the obgyn we went to the last 2 times is apparently famous in Bandung for being pro c-section. Literally everyone we talked to said that if we continue seeing this doctor, we will end up with c-section. Unless of course, if we’re persistent with going natural. Who knows what will happen later but I’d like to have the choice to do natural birth – and I still think it’s the way to go. Heheh. For this very reason, we decided to see other doctor.

In week 12, we went to see the new doctor and we’re happy with him. He’s open for questions up to the point that we have no question left. During the USG, I was so happy! I could see the baby’s hand moving around but seems like the baby’s keep moving around so we had no clear snapshot. Gahhh I fell in love – again! – when I saw it moving around!

week 12

too active moving around, causing blurry photo

There’s now a healthy 6.23cm long baby inside me. Weird!! You see, sometimes before I went to sleep I wonder how magical wondrous amazing God is. This whole process of human creation just make me wonder in awe, especially now that I have a little human growing. It all started with what look like nothing and later on in life, that small sac will go to school, work and be responsible for making his impact on the world. It’s amazing to thing that God has created and planned a beautiful life for this little human and us.

Anyway, given that we’ll be flying to Australia (yeay yeay!!) in 2 weeks time, we asked for the doctor’s clearance to fly. Looking at the baby’s condition and that it will be week 14 by then, the doctor gave an ok. Praise the Lord!

week 12 heartbeat

At week 12, baby’s heartbeat was at 166bpm. Going strong and healthy. I still believe that babies need their heart to work hard because they’re working hard to grow their internal organs, toes, fingers, ears, eyes, nose and everything else. It must be tough to grow each day while swimming. Hehe, I just can’t help to think of the cuteness of a growing baby.

Now that more people know about the pregnancy, I’d like to answer THE question that I often receive. Fortunately and thank God for this, I haven’t had any nausea or morning sickness or whatever sickness from this pregnancy. This is apart from the flu virus I had few weeks ago (read it here). I think the key to this (this is based on experience. I’m obviously not an expert), is to listen to the my body. I take my usual size meal, add small portion of snacks when feeling a bit hungry and do my usual exercise (my routine cleaning chores and light lifting). I rest when I feel tired and try to keep my heart happy. Being happy is the best way to stay healthy anyway! This last theory was also mentioned by my doctor. He said that the hub should keep me happy because when someone’s happy, the veins will expand and resulting in faster nutrition flow to the baby. Easiest way to achieve this? Going on a shopping trip. Well done doctor! :D

To end my note on week 12, here’s a photo of my happy hubby. I’m not sure if that’s because we just saw our healthy baby or because of the delicious deep fried carp (Ikan Gurami) waiting to be eaten.
